Healthy diet, regular physical activity, maintaining a normal body weight, and avoiding tobacco use can prevent or delay the onset of Type 2 diabetes. Diabetes increases the risk of heart disease and stroke. 50% of people with diabetes die of cardiovascular disease.

Results: The prevalence of diagnosed cases of diabetes was 4.94% in the study population. The prevalence of diabetes increased significantly with increasing age. There was no significant association between gender, religion, types of family, dietary pattern, and the prevalence of diabetes.
